The Blue Knights® is a non-profit fraternal organization consisting of active and retired law enforcement men & women who enjoy riding motorcycles. In the Spring of 1974, several law enforcement officers, Joel Rudom, Bill Robinson, Doug Miner, Ed Gallant, Mike Hall, Chuck Gesner, Wayne Labree and Chuck Shuman from the Bangor, Maine (USA) area met and and formed a small, local motorcycle club. The rest, as they say, is history. Soon, Blue Knight chapters were being formed in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and beyond. With the addition of Canada, and later Australia, the Blue Knights became an international organization. As of Jan 2007, we have 572 chapters and over 20,000 members in 28 countries Many Blue Knights work long and hard to raise money for various charities. As of 30th June 2006 Blue Knights have donated to numerous charities; contributing time in the amount of 155,016 man hours (@ $20 per hour), goods with an estimated value of $520,579.63 and $4,721,279.45 in cash for a total of $8,342,179.08 (USD). Here in the UK the main charity supported by the Blue Knights is COPS (Care of Police Survivors), an organisation set up and run by those who have lost family members in the line of duty.
The Blue Knights® is open to serving Police Officers, Prison Officers, HM Customs & Excise Officers and members of The Royal Military Police, The Royal Navy Police and The Royal Air Force Police. Despite our large geographical area, we try to organise rides, rallies and events throughout the Chapter that appeal to everyone. Our aim is to promote the good side of motorcycling to the general public and to liaise with like minded people from all over the world at various rallies and events We cater for all ages, all riding capabilities, and all sizes of machines. With members in Staffordshire, West Midlands, West Mercia and Derbyshire borders, there is always someone near you. All are welcome to come along to our meetings and rides.
We have one meeting a month; and because of the wide area covered, we try to alternate meetings to cover all areas that members come from.
